The Transport Sector
Transportation is an industry that is heavily regulated, from air travel to rail and road the need for health and safety is paramount. Transport operators face many compliancy issues that they must adhere to and often incur harsh punishment if they do not meet their legal requirements.
Legislations such as health and safety and security are of vital importance with events such as 9/11 and 7/7 highlighting this need. There is increasing pressure to minimize the heightened risks and threats facing the industry.
Overcoming challenges
ThirdForce’s expertise and experience lies in helping organisations to meet compliancy requirements, working with regulating bodies and such like to ensure all needs and laws are met. We also understand the challenges organisations are facing today with increasing fuel prices and rising taxes. ThirdForce provides content that is intuitive and interesting and makes the overall training of compliancy more enjoyable and successful. In addition we can provide a fully audited training trail via ThirdForce’s management system AIMS™, which is vital when you consider the necessity of monitoring such important data.
Air Transport
ThirdForce has developed an e-learning solution that is specifically designed for the Air Transport Industry to address the security issues surrounding employees working airside at airports. General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) addresses the mandatory airport security training requirements set out in EC Regulation 2320 for all non-security trained personnel working in the Restricted Zone in any airport.
Air Transport – Security
The air transport industry encompasses personnel working within all areas of the airport and subsidiary organisations. It is a growing market, 1,700 aircraft take off daily from the UK alone to more than 700 destinations. In February 2008 the UK handled 10.2 million passengers, in comparison to 9.9 million in February 2006.
As a result employment within the industry continues to grow. It is a business sector that is diverse in its employment and subsequently has many social issues and responsibilities to address, such as different cultures and languages. As well as the regulatory safety and security requirements that all personnel must adhere to, training is a high priority for all air transport organisations.
Daily challenges
Air transport is also faced with the daily challenges of heightened security risks and threats, environmental issues such as air quality and noise control, and increased costs in areas like fuel and taxes. It is heavily compliant with government and industry bodies mainly for passenger safety, an issue that has become crucial due to external factors, such as the terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001 and July/August 2006.
Taking all these factors into account, to run an efficient, effective and compliant business within the air transport sector requires a high level of commitment from all personnel - from director level to ground staff. Training must be a priority but can be challenging when personnel are geographically dispersed over multiple sites.
ThirdForce has a legacy in delivery e-learning in the workplace efficiently and cost-effectively. Our proven model maximises the return on investment and engages learners to motivate them to successfully complete courses. Our e-learning solution for General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) has been designed to address the mandatory airport security training requirements set out in EC Regulation 2320 for all non-security trained personnel working in the Restricted Zone in any airport.
The flexible choice of delivery and high-quality content provides organisations with the ability to reach employees in widely dispersed workplaces and provides security in knowing they are meeting legislative requirements.
